About 231 Fort York Boulevard — Atlantis at Waterpark City
Atlantis at Waterpark City may be the second building constructed in its complex, and the shorter of the two towers, but residents of Atlantis are equally as content as those living next door, Aquarius at Waterpark City. Located at 231 Fort York Blvd, Atlantis at Waterpark City is still sizeable, reaching to 29 storeys. In fact, with 577 units found inside, it’s home to even more units than its sister building.
Built in 2007, Lanterra Developments and Lifetime Developments teamed with Page + Steele/IBI Group for the design and construction of the tower at 231 Fort York. Since then Harmony Property Management has been in charge, working with the 24-hour concierge and security to ensure everything runs smoothly for homeowners—and occasionally their guests.
The exterior is unsurprisingly clad in glass, however the rounded shape is unexpected and refreshing. History and beer lovers alike will enjoy hearing that the property at 231 Fort York was formerly home to the Molson Brewery, while fans of art can take in the artwork by Vito Acconci found right on the property.
While the façade is an important part of any building, buyers may be more focused on finding a home that offers plenty of amenities. Thankfully for those living in Atlantis at Waterpark City, Club Oasis really has it all. Here, residents can find a spa with saunas and massage rooms, a theatre, a billiards room, a party room, a gym, and an indoor swimming pool and hot tub.
There’s also shared rooftop terrace with garden and barbecues for when the weather decides to cooperate. And to top it all off, those who love to play host can put their visitors up in one of the building’s guest suites.
The Suites
With over 500 units to choose from, it’s not surprising that the homes at 231 Fort York range quite considerably in size. Units starting at around 350 square feet are ideal for single professionals or couples on a tighter budget, while the largest of suites reach to approximately 1,250 square feet, making them ideal for roommates who are looking for Toronto condos for rent.
The suites are all bright and airy thanks to their open concept designs and floor-to-ceiling windows. This also allows the sun to work its magic and illuminate every corner of the homes at 231 Fort York.
Designed by Munge Leung, the interiors boast luxurious features including pre-engineered hardwood floors and stainless steel appliances. To top it all off, the building’s balconies offer residents the chance to relax or entertain outdoors while enjoying the stunning views of the city.
The Neighbourhood
The Fort York neighbourhood is quite well rounded, as far as neighbourhoods go. Residents living in the area are within close reach of chic bars and restaurants, expansive green spaces, popular attractions, and even Lake Ontario.
Outdoorsy types have their pick: residents can head to Garrison Common or Coronation Park for a picnic, or walk or cycle over to Ontario Place to explore the newly constructed grounds. At the latter, one can even catch an IMAX movie at the Cinesphere — the first permanent theatre of its kind in the world. Those looking to truly escape the city can also walk just 30 minutes or ride the streetcar for 15 in order to reach the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, which carries passengers to the Toronto Islands.
When it comes time to run errands, residents living at Atlantis at Waterpark City can walk over to the Metro in Liberty Village, which takes approximately 20 minutes to reach by foot. Once in the area, there’s plenty else to explore, including the rock climbing gym Joe Rockheads, furniture and design stores, and plenty of spots for brunch or a cold beer.
Transportation
Getting around is simple with 231 Fort York as a starting point. While residents may not make use of it as frequently, it’s helpful having Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport so close at hand. Travelers can walk less than 15 minutes — or take a 10-minute streetcar ride or a 5-minute drive — in order to catch a flight out of the city.
For daily commutes or travel within the city, residents living at 231 Fort York can use the 511 Bathurst Streetcar, which turns onto Fleet Street and stops right at Fort York Boulevard at the southern end of its route. From here, passengers can ride north up Bathurst for access to Bathurst Station on the Bloor-Danforth subway line.
Drivers, on the other hand, are a stone’s throw away from the Gardiner Expressway, from which they can reach the 427 to the west or the Don Valley Parkway to the east in no time.
